Why Rent When You Can OWN!

Why Rent When You Can OWN!

When starting off in this business, a few thoughts automatically popped into my head. The first was, “Why did I wait so long to do this”. I love my job, more than that, I love the satisfaction I get when I help people into their dream homes. The smiles, the tears, knowing that I can turn someones frustrations around in a single conversation when the process becomes tough. Which brings me to my 2nd thought… Immediately when I started, my Facebook inbox, Cell Phone, Email, Voice mail, basically any way that people could get in touch with me, was off the hook and.. I was THRILLED. But then my excitement turned to confusion, why are all these young people looking to rent? Why are they paying someone else’s mortgage?! They have good jobs. Their credit may not be great, but that’s ok, I can work with that. So…. WHY?! I really believe that this generation, MY generation, consists of very intelligent people. We teach ourselves. If we don’t know something, we learn. Can’t get a straight answer? We find it! But this could be scary territory. We’re talking about BUYING A HOME! That’s a huge deal! So, we may stray from this area. Buying is not going to be for everyone, plain and simple, but if your able to, if you can afford it, if you are secure with your job, DITCH THE RENTAL!.. I’m going to provide you with just a few simple tips and FACTS that will hopefully enlighten you and get you thinking about home ownership! READY?!

  • Home prices are just about as low as they are going to get. Whats that mean to you? It means… HOME PRICES ARE JUST ABOUT AS LOW AS THEY ARE GOING TO GET! Right now we are looking at super low interest rates and super affordable home prices. The combination alone should get you motivated. Get to a mortgage broker and get pre-qualified. It doesn’t hurt a bit, I promise.
  • Don’t ever think, “Well, I have bad credit”. You know what you do when you have bad credit? YOU FIX IT. I worked for a credit card company for 7 years before I got into Real Estate and I helped A LOT of young people turn their credit around. You have to ask, don’t be afraid of these companies. Keep calling until you find someone who you feel comfortable talking to and TALK… Its the only thing that is going to help.
  • Equity noun – The monetary value of a property or business beyond any amounts owed on it in mortgages, claims, liens, etc.. When you rent, you own nothing, make a payment and say goodbye. When you own, every payment you make increases your ownership. Your essentially investing in yourself.
  • The pride of ownership is the ultimate. It’s the american dream.

Listen, this might not be exactly what you were looking for, but I hope it helps. No one is going to be able to make that final decision for you, but the fact of the matter is, if you keep telling yourself something like, “I can’t afford to buy” your going to start believing it. Educate yourself. Talk to your local Realtor and mortgage broker and find out all your options. You owe it to yourself.

The use of actual issues in the business gave me an understanding of the day to day activities and that made it real easy to understand.
